Saturday Classes
Montessori on the Lake, through our partnership with the D'Angon Academy offers weekend enrichment classes to students in the community.
We offer Language classes as well as STEAM classes
Each class has a duration of six (6) weeks. Classes are held every Saturday, for six straight Saturdays.
1. Spanish for Kids!
Session 1: 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3/, 2/10

For the six weeks of Spanish class, students will acquire the basics of the Spanish language in a fun, engaging, and interactive classroom environment. Throughout the six weeks students will build their Spanish vocabulary through activities that include but are not limited to the following: storytelling, games, music, and art. Students will learn Spanish introductions, greetings, commands, colors, numbers, animals, foods, and other common terminology and phrases.

2. Chinese for Kids!

In this class students will learn basic Chinese vocabulary. Students will be introduced to names of animals, colors, shapes, and the family unit. In addition to learning vocabulary, students will also have the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and holidays. Specifically, we will learn about Chinese New Year’s and ways that people celebrate it. Within each lesson students will learn Chinese vocabulary, sing Chinese songs, recite nursery rhymes, and explore Chinese culture through crafts.

Release your inner artist and get your hands dirty! In this six-week course, your child will use a variety of materials as they learn different art methods and techniques. As students create their own unique pieces, they will be introduced to the famous artists known for these particular styles. Students of all levels can learn these concepts as they improve their artistic skills. In this fun and engaging course, children will gain a deep understanding and appreciation for the art that is all around us.

4. Coding!
Computer science is foundational for every student

During this 6 week course, your child will learn basic programming concepts such as algorithms, loops, and events. Each lesson is designed to teach students to collaborate with others, investigate different problem-solving techniques, and persist in the face of difficult tasks. All concepts are introduced with unplugged activities before bringing students to an online workspace for block based coding. At the end of this course, students will have the opportunity to apply their new skills to create a custom game or story to share.

Over the 6 week course, your budding chemist will learn reactions are happening all around us. Each week we will experiment with the properties of matter and test different reactants to uncover how chemical reactions work. From making a soda explode to discovering polymers through slime they will understand the difference between physical and chemical reactions. Each experiment is introduced to your child with lab safety being a priority and constant use of chemistry terminology. At the end of the course, your chemists will have the knowledge and curiosity to design their own experiments.
